POSITION: TECHNICAL WRITER, NEW SOFTWARE RELEASES
Department: Marketing Support
Division: Technical Information
Reports to: Pilot Team Leader, New Authoring Project Leader
JOB PURPOSE:
To test monthly releases of new authoring software for required
functionality. Determine and document enhancements that will increase user
acceptance and productivity.
JOB DUTIES:
This position works with tool owners, systems developers, production users
(integrators, editors, authors, illustrators) and the project group.
Performs tool validation on monthly software releases. Identifies and
documents bugs and areas where additional functionality is required.
Provides feedback to tool owners and to software developers. Helps
develop and document production workflow for all document types.
Develops test files for software support. Provides support for
training documentation by testing and verifying new training material.
Supports software group by helping with resolution of vocabulary
issues and testing of new releases for functionality. Supports
production users with one-on-one mentoring.
BACKGROUND EXPERIENCE:
Requires a bachelor s degree or equivalent experience working with
computer systems and software. A working knowledge and/or experience
working with Unix systems is preferred. Must be detail oriented and
self motivated. Must have strong problem solving skills and excellent
communication skills, both written and oral. An understanding of
technical,mechanical, and electronic components and processes is desirable.
