Dan,
Everyone gets them. If you post something off-topic and you
don't get a message from me, that either means that I missed it or that
I'm too swamped with real work to do it. Not getting a reminder
from me doesn't mean I condone what you post in any way--it
just means that I didn't have time to respond.

Many (roughly one out of three) of you have expressed your anger that I'd
have the gall to tell you that your post was off-topic when I didn't
"do anything" about other posts. Virtually all of my reminders
are off-list. Just like the note I sent to Dan, they are private
and not meant for posting. Many days, if I sent all of the
off-topic reminders to the list, I'd double the list volume.

Keep in mind that if you don't like getting reminders
to keep your posts to the appropriate topics, you could
always try keeping your posts to the appropriate topics
on your own. If you don't like being "subjected to" the
same rules that 99.9% of the people on the list follow,
you're welcome to sign off the list.

Subject closed. As Arlen likes to say, can we get back to
business now?
