About AVL:
=========
AVL is short for ' Anstalt fur Verbrennungskraftmaschinen und MeBtechnik
List' (Institute for combustion engines and measurement technology List).
The design office that Professor Hans List founded 1948, today under the
helmsmanship of Professor Helmut List has grown into a multinational
organization with a staff of 900 in Graz alone and an export content of 96%.
AVL's main development efforts cover the following:
1. Engine development
AVL's development work covers all activities from the improvement of
existing engines to the design and testing of new engine families, including
all sizes and types of engine, powered by diesel, gasoline, natural gas,
methanol or vegetable oils. AVL's specialist teams work under strict
confidentiality and devote their energies to technical solutions tailor made
to meet customers'
requirements.
2. Engine measurement technology
AVL's engine measurement equipment extends from the smallest pressure
transducer for measuring combustion chamber pressure and special instruments
for recording injection data, fuel consumption, oil consumption and diesel
smoke, to complete microprocessor-controlled indicating systems and test bed
facilities. AVL designs and builds these systems to specific customer
requirements, including any necessary instrumentation and customized
software.
3. Medical technology
AVL's wealth of experience in microprocessor and sensor technology is the
reason for the company's leading position in the medical technology sector,
too. Since 1965, AVL has produced highly sophisticated medical diagnosis
units and blood gas analyzers whose success lies in their high precision and
their automation technology designed for reliable, twenty-four hour service
in the physician's routine. These systems are used in more than 60 countries
throughout the world for micro-analysis of blood gas and acid/base levels or
ion concentrations in human blood.
AVL has established subsidiaries world wide in order to offer its large
international clientele the best possible local service and technical
support: subsidiaries in Europe, America and Asia ensure AVL customers quick
service and reliable, customized solutions.
