For me it isn't the grades that is important as much as the knowledge.
(Which is actually a good thing, because I graduated from college--after
flunking out--with a 2.65. Which was good enough to get into grad school at
Yale, but that's another story...)

I just did some training at my new job. I was the only writer in a class w/
3 engineers, and the guy who did the training said I was better than some of
the engineers. That's the value of a liberal arts education, IMHO. It helped
that the class was on DSP software and that I spent a lot of time in grad
school analyzing speech signals. But still--it's really my ability to
synthesize disparate bits of information quickly that made me good. And I
don't think a GPA has anything to do with that.
