In a way, IETMs for commercial purposes are already here in the form
of CD-ROM encyclopaedia (Encarta, etc.). It depends a bit on what level
you are talking about.
[For the unenlightened, there are five 'classes' of IETM where class 1
is simply an electronic page turner and any PDF file could qualify. Class
5, on the other hand, is a dialog-driven interactive document that is context
sensitive and includes a lot of 'artificial intelligence'). ]
I am not advertising [really] but Tedopres has been making IETMs commercially
for several years. You are unlikely to meet them unless you work in the heavy
construction, mining or timbering industries, but they _are_ there. Keep your
eyes on certain brands of photocopier machine, that's probably where you'll
see them first.
