I'm located near the University of
Illinois, which has thousands of
doctoral students, many from foreign
countries. I've edited and rewritten
several doctoral dissertations for such
students. Most of these have been on
engineering-related subjects, and I
found the work enjoyable despite coming
from a liberal arts/marketing
background. One client is now an
assistant professor and will write
me a reference letter.

I'm looking for four types of
information. I'm looking for contract
editing work, either with a software
company or an agency.(1) What sort of
job title should I specify: "assistant
editor", "editorial assistant" or...?
(2) What sort of pay rate can I expect?
(3) Are there any agencies in Chicago
or Indianapolis I might try? (4) I've
seen a job list called Winhelp
mentioned here. Can anyone pass along
the URL? Thanks.
