I certainly share your concern--this is a serious problem.
Yes, there is something that can be done about it. It's
called message confirmation. It works just about like
the confirmation process in subscribing:
1. You post.
2. Listserv sends it back to you and asks you to
confirm it.
3. You confirm it. If you don't, it dies right there.
4. Listserv sends it out to everyone.
Do we want to do this? I don't know. I don't know of other
lists that require it. I know it would be a hassle
for all of us--I can't estimate just how big.
Comments, either on or off-line, as appropriate, would
be welcome. I don't want to jump into doing this, but it's
a possibility.
