Hi all:

This is a question coming from Mac and WinHead
who is now enjoying the power of Unix (via
HP-Open Vue/View, X-windows).

What utilities do you Unix-folk love to use?

I know XV and Frame and various text editors and
mailers are essential, but what else?

Specifically, I am interested in
(freeware/shareware):

HTML Composers

SGML Composers

Flowcharters

GUI Compression (stuffit and winzip equivs)

QT/MOV, AVI, MPEG Motion Players (for nonMPEG
card machines)

GUI Sound Manipulators (all formats aif, wav,
etc.)

Alternatives to XV

Illustrator type program

GUI PGP programs

GUI Uudecoders (why?)

Database

Really Kewl GUI mail and newsreaders like Eudora
and FreeAgent

IRC goodies like Homer and mIRC

Authoring and Video Capture (Director, Premiere
and Authorware equivs?)

Please help, I don't have any pet Unix geeks.

Mind you, I hate text interfaces (Yes, I can use
like the toughest programmers, but why challenge
my nanosecond attention span?)

If I get response, I will forward them to the
list in annotated format. Thanks!
