The ability to *really* use humor is a talent possessed by very few people.
That's why good comedians get the some of the biggest bucks in our culture.

Face it. Despite the fact that *everyone* thinks she/he has a great sense of
humor, most people have a really crude idea of what's funny and what isn't
(as in the previous example of "librarian and Conan the Barbarian").
Furthermore, no two people completely agree on what's funny.

You and I both know that most technical communicators are doing well to
communicate their material clearly.

Humor is a rare gift. Using such an incredibly delicate and sophisticated
tool to embellish a technical document is beyond the reach of most of us.

Stick to the facts.
