Hello, all TECHWR-Lers! Hope all is well. The following announces a job in
the Chicago area:
Campbell Software, Inc., in Evanston, IL, currently has an immediate
opening for a junior-to-intermediate level technical communicator. This
position requires you have a couple of years' experience as a tech
communicator, a four-year degree (preferably in the liberal arts), and the
ability to--
* work faster than you work now
* document functions, processes, procedures, tasks, and steps
* adapt to an ever-changing software development environment
* be more flexible than a Bungee cord
* interview subject matter experts on the fly as well as research existing
documents
* learn and use desktop publishing tools and other applications almost
immediately
* dedicate yourself to the vision of the department and the company
* work within a team as well as work independently
* produce great technical communications pieces
We are not looking for someone who has specific experience with a specific
version of a specific tool (for example, "Must have 2 years' exp. with
FrameMaker 5.x for Windows"--though we do use FM5...)--we're looking for
someone who's excited about technology, excited about the profession of
techical communication (tech writing? information engineering? info
design?), and excited by the prosepect of working for a company that cares
more about the source code than the dress code.
As far as tools are concerned, we use
FrameMaker
PageMaker
Photoshop
Canvas
Illustrator
Word
WordPro
Ami Pro
..in other words, whatever it takes (which is our motto...).
Campbell Software is the fourth-fastest growing software development
company in the U.S. We're entreprenurial in our spirit while we build
workforce management business solutions. Our flagship products, StaffWorks
and Campbell Time and Attendance, are installed in some of the most
prestigious Fortune 500 companies in the U.S. Many of our customers are
specialty retailers, department stores, and grocery chains.
An EOE, Campbell Software provides great benefits [alas, relocation isn't
one of them :-)], opportunity, and environment.
Please send an email version of your resume to

or a paper fax to

Please don't call, however.
Many thanks!
