Suzanne and fellow Techwr-L subscribers,
This "virus" has been floating around for years, and as far as I
know, every alert ever raised about "good times" so far has been a false
alarm. This is not to say Suzanne's message should be ignored, for it's
possible that the virus is real, but don't become petrified of your e-mail,
either.
Part of the message Ms Wood forwarded said that "good times" is
activated when it is read into memory as an e-mail message. This sounds
suspicious to me, for I have never known of any virus which does its damage
unless the file in which it's embedded is executed (so viruses usually
appear in .bat, .com, .exe, or self-extracting ZIP files). Again, I
appreciate you sharing the warning with us, Suzanne, but I don't think
anyone should panic either. All the same, if you receive a message with a
subject reading "good times," if you do not recognize the sender, delete it
as unread just to be safe.
Just my $.02 worth...
Ken
