The arctangent is a standard mathematical function. Arctan(v), roughly, is
the angle whose tangent has the value v.
ATAN2 is a function available in a number of language environments -- BASIC,
Excel functions, etc -- is a two-argument version of the arctangent.
ATAN2(x,y), again roughly, is the angle from the x-axis, moving
counterclockwise, to the line from (0,0) to (x,y).
Since the tangent of an angle is the ratio of opposite side to adjacent side
(remember sohcahtoa), ATAN2(x,y) = arctan(y/x). ...RM
