James Lockard asked about "knowledge management".

Someone noticed that there is a difference between data, information,
knowledge, and wisdom. Someone else saw a marketing niche in this
distinction. I think you're right, that 'knowledge management' is a new
term for an old thing, used to sell to an uninformed and susceptible
audience who want the latest and greatest, whether it's useful or not.
The guys who fall for New and Improved!! With lots of italics and capital
letters and red underlines, and.... (ooops - soapbox off).

Anyway, it used to be client-centered, or focused, or audience-specific.
But if you can make more bucks being a Manager of Knowledge, hey, go
for it! To paraphrase Pope,

(New) "Words are like leaves; and where they most abound,
Much fruit of sense beneath is seldom found."
