1. You change the style "normal" to match your own needs, then make sure
it's saved in normal.dot template. This changes it permanently until you
change it again.

2. Change the style "normal," then save the document as a new template. Then
when you want a new document attached to that template, click File/New and
select your new template. The new document will have your special "normal,"
but it won't interfere with "normal" in the normal.dot template.
