I agree. In addition to not noticing a bias against me as a contractor,
lately, my clients have been treating me like a king. I mean to say
they treat me better than they do their own permanent employees. I
think this is because I specialize in a technical field (Internet)
that has few technical communications practitioners so far and am
therefore considered rare and to be cherished.

I think the life of a contract technical communicator is what you make
it. I don't stay around long where I feel a bias against me.
