For this reason the metric (and EC) standard is to use a thin space for
grouping, EXCEPT WHEN DEALING WITH SUMS OF MONEY.

123 456 789.2345   or 123 456 789,2345

Since, as far as I can discover all English-speaking countries use the
decimal point, I would use it when writing in English.
