Subject:Icon Search for Help Desk Product From:Phillip Wilkerson <phillipw -at- ALLENSYSGROUP -dot- COM> Date:Thu, 26 Sep 1996 11:31:57 -0400
Hello All Techwr-l Readers:
Allens Systems Group is documenting a help desk program. In a
cooperative effort between Tech Pubs and Development (yes, such
alliances do occur in the real world), we are searching for an
industry standard icon for a Help Desk. By
"Help Desk" I mean: your PC modem does not work, so you call
the manufacturer, and talk to someone at a Help Desk who
listens to your problem and helps you resolve it.
Specifically, we need an icon depicting agreements to
resolve critical problems within a specific time frame
(what we call "Service Level Agreements"). For example:
"If our program crashes your mainframe, the Help Desk
at ASG agrees to respond with a solution within 1 hour."
Or,
"If the program database is nearing threshold, the
Help Desk agrees to resolve the problem within 4 hours."
Does anyone know of an industry standard for the icon
we need?
I welcome all ideas and any hints or suggestions
where I might find the icon.
Please respond off-list to:
