Hiring mentality:
EVERYBODY can write.
If everybody can write (take pictures), then the supply is
greater than the demand.
If S>D, then pay can be low.
You know, and I know, the hiring orgainzation gets its
money's worth ... ^you get what you pay for^ may be bad
grammar, but it IS accurate.
BTW, I'm ^told^ (by our recruiters) that Trecom Business
Systems' salaries in Sacramento (CA) = Tampa (FL). Trecom
may not be the most generous companies, but it takes pretty
good care of the troops ... I probably make as much as/more
than some of the programmers -- my skills are as valuable
(to our clients) as the programmers'.

As far as the Web salary site, seems the caveat is that it
fails to consider taxes. It's a good starting point, but as
several poster correctly noted, it is only one resource of
many that should be checked. (Local papers are an excellent
resource; alas we don't always have the luxury of time to
acquire the paper/make the comparisons.)

...do not make a statement that cannot be easily
understood on the grounds that it will be understood
eventually. (Hillel)
