I can't really see that there is too much of a problem here. Remember, this
is the boss's call.
You may get some very positive feedback from the review. If the document is
good, the review should not result in a high volume of amendments. On the
other hand if you have to make changes, then it is as well to know it before
the document goes to the customer.
What to do with any feedback is also the boss's call. If the volume of the
feedback impacts on delivery, he must decide how to deal with his decision
to call for a very late review of the document.
Remember also that if the document comes through this review process well,
your boss should be suitably pleased.
