I wanted to know which was "correct:"

Interestingly enough, folks are divided on this issue (almost half 'n
half, as a matter of fact).

Grammatically, if you follow all the rules, the first way *is*
correct. But it sounds awkward. So... my solution? I chickened out
and rewrote the darned thing to
...more may be required if many records are retrieved

Thanks for all your input!! Now, could someone please send me some
sunshine? <grin>
