Hi,
You need Adobe Exchange! In Exchange you can create hierarchical bookmarks,
although be aware that this involves tedious manual labor, especially as
your manual is 500 pages plus long.
As far as I'm aware, only FrameMaker 5.X can produce automatically
generated hierarchical PDF bookmarks. I use this feature quite often and it
works very well.
