I would like to get my two cents in (i.e., my opinion). Everyone on
this list (i.e., the TECHWR-L list) has differing opinions regarding
abreviations (e.g., e.g.,i.e.,AD, etc.); i.e., some people seem to
favor using them, while others feel that they are a distracting
(i.e., removing the readers' attention from the content). However,
I think most people would agree that, depending on your audience
(i.e., the people who read your writing), using these abreviations is
often acceptable; e.g., in medical journals, in academic journals, and
on technical writer mail lists. Because the use of these abreviations
(i.e., e.g., i.e., AD, etc.) is often abused, I think it's important to
advocate moderation when using them; i.e., use abbreviations with the
understanding that you may be alienating some of your readers (which is
what I have most likely done here).

Okay. I've had my fun.
