Greetings All:

Copyright question: In technical documents, what sort of copyright
information is required by law? I work at a sofware company and our
copyright expert is telling us that we must show the little "c" in a
circle on the front page of hardcopy and on the TOC of our online Help.
He says that without the little "c" the copyright isn't valid.

Likewise, for trademarks: if we have a product name of GIZMO, every
time GIZMO appears in the document, it must be followed by that little
TM following the "O."

We have conflicting information that says, show the copyright and
trademark information once (say on the inside of the cover page for
hardcopy and on the "About" page for online info), and then you don't
have to repeat this if you mention any product names again.

Have you dealt with this issue at all? What have you done? Was this
backed up by legal expertise?

Any and all info is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Cheryl D. Kidder
