IMHO, UNIX developers should stay far away from Microsoft! I'd reverse
the first sentance. That is, Microsoft "plans to support viewing on Mac
platforms and even pretends to support UNIX."

It's not so much the difference in mentalities (vast) so much as that
Microsoft has absolutely no clue about UNIX. Their PC stuff is OK.

Again IMHO, if one wants to go the UNIX HTML help route, Netscape is
best choice.
