Subject:Need IBM big honcho's address From:d r <writeagain -at- JUNO -dot- COM> Date:Mon, 10 Feb 1997 16:44:03 EST
I rationalized that this message belongs here. I am in need of your help.
Without it. I can't post here, do my work, and all the other things I use
my computer for.
Where is a techie without a computer? If you know the answer, please
don't tell me. I just need your help, fellow-techies..
My computer is less than a year old. One problem after another since it
arrived. Two months later the (IBM) scanner didn't scan (tech support
said it was > my < doing. They ended up having to send another install
diskette for it). At that time a B drive appeared (I don't have a B
drive), I was told that if the computer was older than 2 months this
would be a problem. I was asked if I run "scandisk" and told that I was
making the B drive icon appear because my computer thinks I have one
because I run scandisk.
A few months later, 32,700 bad sectors appeared. I was told that this
was nothing to worry about, but if the machine was a bit older I should
ask for a new HD.
Then, I used MSN as my IP and the new software corrupted my HD so IBM
told me. I had to reformat the harddrive and run the recovery disk. This
would supposedly make the B drive disappear and oh did I mention, the
on-light for my A drive never goes off. And doing the above didnt' help
any.
So now tech support says that perhaps when I wasn't looking (this is my
personal computer -- I ALWAYS LOOK), someone came in and mixed up the
cables in the tower because 2 tech people there have no idea why my A
drive continually runs.
They have suggested bringing it in for servicing, letting them take a
look at it for a couple of weeks ---------- COUPLE OF WEEKS! This is like
the Lone Ranger without Tonto; Roy Rogers without Trigger; Winnie the
Pooh without Tigger, MacDonalds without burgers -- you get the idea,
right?
Well, I want to write to IBM before I even consider leaving off my
partner-associate-right arm, etc. for the shortest amount of time
possible. Anyone know of a NAME and ADDRESS of some big honcho at IBM.
They also told me not to use Internet Explorer and if I have to, that I
have to use 2.0 and cannot upgrade because it does something bad to
Aptivas. True?
Any/all help is greatly appreciated.
