Apparently creativity in a cover letter doesn't cut it. I once applied
for a position with that had creative undertones to it so I really put a
creative type cover page. It read like the first page of a manuscript and
when you got to the 3rd paragraph the reader knew that I was applying for
the position but apparently, the reader of the cover letter never made it
that far. Everything was returned to me with a note saying that this was
sent to them in error.
They didn't even notice that the resume was truly geared to the available
position and so I rationalized that if they didn't read on to paragraph
3, this wasn't a place I wanted to work for.
