Two years ago US West and a software company in NY (I forget its name) did an
experiment in 2 Utah high schools where they provided fully interactive,
full-screen, MPEG quality instruction on Hamlet. The information was stored
in NY, and accesses on an on-demand basis by the students. This was all fully
interactive hypermedia. The larger communications companies hope to one day
be information storers and providers, and the last I heard they do not intend
to use browsers or even IP.
