Responsibilities: Develop programming documentation for application
developers who are creating client applications or customizing our client
applications. Take responsibility for the application developer's toolkit
documentation set, which currently consists of an application developer's
guide, client customizing guide, programming language reference (manual and
online help), resource editor manual, and release notes. As the product
grows in depth and sophistication, enhance the existing manuals and propose
and write additional manuals as needed. Estimate and maintain schedules.
Gather information by interviewing software engineers and reading
engineering specs. Use existing example code, write example code, and test
code. Participate in project meetings. Participate in shaping the future of
our documentation as a member of a small, growing technical publications team.
Qualifications: At least three years experience writing for a technical
audience. At least one year developing programming documentation. Experience
documenting API, writing programming guides, and writing code examples. An
understanding of client/server technology and object-oriented programming.
Working knowledge of C/C++, Visual Basic, SQL, RDBMS. Ability to write
clearly and succinctly about technical concepts. Ability to take the
developer's point of view. Ability to work both independently and as a
responsible member of a team. Working knowledge of FrameMaker. BA or
equivalent. Pluses include familiarity with: Java, the Tooltalk and
AppleEvents protocols, help authoring, RoboHELP, Windows 95, and Word macros.
