Parsing used in a programming environment normally means breaking the
source code down into the smallest unit the language can deal with.
These units are called tokens, or language primatives. For an easy to
understand illustration see page 303 of the cow book (Practical C
Programming by Steve Oualline, O'Reilly & Associates ISBN 1-56592-035-X)
