There was an article or TV news bit recently that a lot of the COBOL and
FORTRAN programmers who had been retired early from their jobs over the
past decade have been hired as consultants now to fix the old programs
and the 2-digit year problem.

I can only assume that programmers today using C++ and Java, or whatever
it is programmers use today--I'm not one, obviously--have to consider
using a 4-digit year!
