That's an elegant solution, IMO, but -- what if we're dealing with a really
dumb user who won't realize that "pointing device" refers to their
mouse?

When writing for non-technical audience, I try to cater to the lowest
possible denominator.

(Keep in mind that I like your solution, in a way -- I'm just being the "Devil's
Advocate" here.) ;-)
