Sella asked how to cite patents. The CBE Style Manual, Scientific Style
and Format, 6th edition, p. 657, states that a patent citation is as
follows:

Name of the inventor of the patented device or process, the word
"inventor"; assignee. Title. Patent descriptor. Date issued [year month
day].

Example:

Harred JF, Knight AR, McIntyre JS, inventors; Dow Chemical Company,
assignee. Epoxidation process. US patent 3,654,317. 1972 Apr 4.
