If you want to learn the HTML tags, I recommend
the tutorial found at

You can download it and run it in stand-alone
mode (without need for Internet connection).
I use this tutorial when I teach HTML classes.

When you get about through the first 5 lessons
or so, get yourself an HTML editor to make life
easier.  I recommend HomeSite (for Win95 and Win NT
only).

When I furst started learning HTML, I experimented
with other people's tags, read books by Laura Lemay,
and experimented.

You'll also find lots of references on the web
itself.
