Subject:FYI - User Survey Results From:"Susan W. Gallagher" <sgallagher -at- EXPERSOFT -dot- COM> Date:Wed, 21 May 1997 10:47:43 -0700
We (Expersoft) have just finished polling our users regarding their
preferences for online documentation. Our user base is small and
consists entirely of Java and C++ programmers. Nevertheless, the
results are in and I thought I'd share.
Our users have stated an overwhelming preference for HTML documents
over both WinHelp and PDF formats. (Note, we have delivered both
WinHelp and HTML documents in various previous releases, but have
never delivered PDF docs.) When asked how they prefered to access
the HTML documents, almost all said they'd either integrate the docs
into their company intranet or access them from the CD-ROM. Only a
small percentage (under 10%) said they'd want Web access.
