Subject:Transporting graphics from Frame/Word to HTML From:geoff-h -at- MTL -dot- FERIC -dot- CA Date:Thu, 22 May 1997 08:21:53 -0500
Kevin Feeman wondered how to extract graphics created in
Word and Frame using their drawing tools for use with HTML.
Don't both packages have HTML export functions or utilities
that will do the conversion for you? Worth a call to the
appropriate discussion lists.
That being said, here are a few thoughts that should help.
First, you could try making a screenshot of the appropriate
images, then opening this in any good image editing program
for cleanup. If it's a "draw" program, there's usually an
"autotrace" function that will convert lines of dots into
mathematical lines, and sharpen the images as a result.
Second, why not investigate software called "Debabelizer"
(reviewed in the latest issue of _Publish_, which is tailor
made for converting graphics formats. It has a list as long
as your arm of file conversions, so Word and Frame might be
on the list. Finally, investigate Adobe Acrobat. You should
be able to chop out everything from the file but the
graphics and save those in PDF format; alternatively, you
could print the entire document in PDF if that would be
more appropriate. Hope this helps.
On the whole, I prefer not to use the built-in drawing
tools of wordpros and destop publishers specifically for
this reason... it's such an enormous pain to extract the
files out and use them elswhere that I'd rather learn a
competent graphics package and be able to move the graphics
anywhere with minimal fuss.
