<<Are there any Word 97 experts who can help me with this one? A client of
mine has a batch of files created in Word 5.1 for the Mac. When these
files
are ported to Word 97/Windows 95, the character spacing is
ever-so-slightly
wider, which adds up enough to cause line breaks and page breaks to vary
from the originals.

The fonts seem identical (just Postscript Helvetica, nothing too fancy).
The printer (a Postscript H-P Laserjet) is identical. What could be the
source of this? My only guess so far is that perhaps Fractional Widths was
used in the Mac files. I can't find Fractional Widths in Word 97.

Any other hints, clues, suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Eric,

In word, go to "format font", and choose the "character spacing" tab. You
can choose to condense or expand spacing by any multiple or fraction of a
point.

Hope that helps

Kathryn
