I suppose I should have been more clear... my suggestion to Greg Byers
re listserv admin messages was also sent to the list intended as a
friendly reminder to everyone:

This applies to almost all email lists. When you subscribe, most
listservs will send two or three "admin" messages. These messages
typically include instructions on how to post/submit, how to change
your confirmation settings, and of course, how to unsubscribe. It
would be pointless to suggest that everyone remember to actually READ
these messages when they're received, but I would recommend that they
at least SAVE them somewhere for future reference.

In PMMail, I have all my different lists sorted into their own folders.
Under each folder is another sub-folder specifically for
administrivia, including such important listserv information (an for
lists like TechWR-L, posting guidelines, etc.).

Little things like this will help you avoid having to post "Please
remove me from this list!" messages publicly. And again, this applies
to almost all listservs.
