Canon Information Systems, located in Costa Mesa, CA, has an opening for
a full-time, permanent Technical Writer. The company develops software
applications for hardware devices manufactured by the parent company
Canon, Inc. (devices such as printers, multifunction fax machines,
multifunction copiers).

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Create online and printed user documentation for a variety of software
and hardware products. Create documentation primarily for Windows-based
products, but also possibly Macintosh and UNIX platforms.
Online documentation includes Windows help and HTML web-based
documentation.

Writer is expected to obtain system knowledge from hands-on use of the
product to supplement information from engineering specifications.
Primary area of writing responsibilities will be network documentation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree. At least 5 years experience as a technical writer
producing documentation for Windows-based products. Experience using a
Windows help-creation tool such as RoboHelp. Experience with a desktop
publishing package such as PageMaker, Ventura, or FrameMaker.

OTHER DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Experience writing documentation for network products, printers,
scanners, or photocopiers. Some experience with NetWare or Windows NT
network terminology and principles. Experience creating simple drawings
in Freehand, Illustrator, or CorelDraw.

OTHER IMPORTANT CHARACTERISTICS
Ability to cope with tight deadlines and project delays inherent in a
multinational product development environment.
