A sincere "thanks" to everyone who sent me a private or public response on
the "success with finding jobs" without a degree. The West Coast appears to
have an incredible amount of employment opportunity for Technical
Communicators. As a result of the responses I have received, I would like
to propose that the different perspectives on the "degree" debate are
somewhat affected by geographic location and employment opportunity.
This will be my final year in graduate school and I know that this degree
will make a difference in my professional career. The concept that an
individual could obtain a "professional" job without a degree seems very
foreign to me because there is so much competition for "professional" jobs
here. In this region of the US a degree does make a difference, especially
a Master's Degree.
