Are there any good references on writing tutorials?

I write a book that contains a tutorial originally written by
someone else. I've updated it, making sure it was accurate, but I've
had several reviewers argue over what should be taught and in what
order, and whether to include certain kinds of information.

I've never written a tutorial from scratch, though I do have some
strong opinions on it, so I'd like to learn something about how it's
done and also have a book to point to when I make my arguments
(against including reference material that belongs elsewhere, for
example).

Any recommendations?
