Well--not quite: sometimes I sign ahead of time, before interviewing, so
that they feel protected in case work comes up through them. But of course
I can take any job I want anywhere. The agreement typically specifies
required notice to leave the job, too (for both sides). No agency has ever
asked for exclusive use of my services--and if they wanted that, they'd pay
dearly.
