TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
I have an immediate need for experienced freelance book editors to help edit two books that will be published by a major computer book publisher. Book subjects: 1. Intranets; 2. Web graphics program.
1. Book copy editor to review 1-2 chapters per week (approx. 24 chapters in all) for meaning, clarity, sentence construction, grammar, and punctuation. This is a true copy edit, not a technical edit. The first two chapters will require a standard, paper markup. Remaining chapters can be edited in Microsoft Word for Windows with Revision Marks feature. Requirements: Strong, traditional copy editing skills. No technical knowledge required other than a knowledge of Word for Windows 95 or 97 (preferably 97) and Word's Revision Marks feature.
2. Technical editor: Review 1-2 chapters per week (approx. 24 chapters in all) for absolute accuracy and completeness. Test procedures and step-by-steps. Review descriptions, and compare figures and terminology against the software. Requirements: Fast Windows 95 or NT machine (Pentium 133 minimum), at least 16 MB RAM, preferably 32 MB, high-end graphics card capable of displaying 32-bit color.
Please e-mail me a resume showing book-editing experience and any questions.
Thank you,
Steve Sagman
