My recommendation to the Tech Writing Hall of Fame is _Model Railroading_, a
1950 Bantam paperback prepared by the editorial staff of the Lionel
Corporation. Everything you could possibly want in technical communication
is here: terrific illustrations of locomotives and yard layouts, wiring
diagrams, tabular presentation where appropriate, and best of all, a clear
writing style that hits its target audience between the eyes. The cover
blurb says: "Up-to-date. Accurate." What more do you want?
