That is correct. I believe the option is actually called ALLOW FAST SAVES.
With this turned on, the autosave appends changes to the file rather than
doing a full save. (I don't know how it does this.) However, there's a
peculiar consequence that really threw me until I figured it out. Every once
in a while, the fast save limit is exceeded and a full save is performed
automatically. When this happens, the file size shrinks dramatically! I
first noticed it when I did my daily backup and my file was about 2/3 the
size it had been the day before. I was a little worried for a while, but it
turned out to be normal.
