In college, I majored in creative writing and since then have published
many short stories and am currently working on a screenplay. I never chose
technical communications as a career, in fact, it chose me. Journalism just
doesn't pay those pesty student loans. It was a hard transistion for me at
first (not my pay check :0) . Writing without adjectives was a big change.
I was actually worried that my fiction skills would dissolve. They didn't
and I survived. Sometimes the days are rough but you work through them.

I'd be interested to know how many of you have tried writing novels. I just
started one this week after meeting a technical editor at the STC
conference who was in the process of publishing a romance novel. (Thanks
Colleeen.) I'm finding it's very easy to just let the words flow. The years
of TW training have certainly helped me create nice readable sentences.
Anyone else trying out their prose?
