Except in a few cases when the project I'm working on is *very* formal,
or when I *know* the audience won't like it, I usually use:
s/h/it
This shows my own frustration with this structure dilemma and it
usually gets a smile out of the reader.
(For the record, those few cases I mentioned above where I don't do
this I usually write so singular pronouns aren't needed. But I prefer
using the s/h/it construction) :>
