Kristen wondered what to do about old manuals that need new
labels. Piece of cake! Ask your printer to print up the
required number of sticky labels, and affix them to the
appropriate parts of the manual. The printing cost is
trivial, and the labor costs can also be minimal; one
approach that works very well is to contact any local
agencies that work with intellectually handicapped kids and
ask them to do the work for you for some reasonable pay
rate. Before anyone asks, this isn't an issue of using
slave labor; it gives the kids a sense of achievement and
some pocket money, and the people I know who work with
these kids consider this an important way of making the
kids feel part of society.
If you use good quality sticky labels, you'll have long
since produced an updated manual by the time they start
peeling off.
