Rikk has captured part of the idea beautifully. QS are great for
giving overviews of processes, especially for software applications.
They are also useful for installations, and overviews of configuration
processes.
When I've written them (as part of training curriculum) I've
found it useful to do a process flow, based upon a task analysis first
(that probably sounds elementary, but ...). It is too easy for me to
make an assumption (logical though it may be!), which is always a bad
move or to omit a step.
