Moving from WordBasic to VBA does require some retraining. However, many of
the same programming concepts you used with WordBasic will also apply to
VBA. With respect to OO, I'd suggest getting a book on object-oriented
programming such as the following, which I found to be a good intro to OOP:
"Karel++: A gentle introduction to the art of object-oriented programming,"
by Bergin, Stehlik, Roberts, and Pattis, pub. by Wiley & Sons.

If you feel ambitious, buy a copy of Visual Basic--the learning edition is
probably under $100--and try writing some a simple program or two, such as
a text editor or a card file. Visual Basic is really the granddaddy to VBA;
many of the skills you learn in VB are effortlessly transferrable to VBA.

I've heard the same thing, but I don't know if the book is out yet. A
coworker checked about two weeks ago and it wasn't out then.
