With respect, Eric, you are entirely wrong. Jennifer said that she is
getting this spam email despite never visiting dodgy web sites or
posting to usenet from her work address.

What she was overlooking (and from your posting, so are you) is the
fact that all postings to this list are also on a usenet newsgroup.
This is one of the reasons that we decided not to mirror the TechComm
list on usenet.

If anyone posts to the techwr-l list, their email address is posted to
the newsgroup, from where 'spam' software harvests the addresses for
bulk emailing.

There are three solutions to this:

1. Remove the techwr-l mirror on usenet

2. Don't post to techwr-l

3. Use a disguised from: and reply to: address in your email headers

All three options are unsatisfactory, but to deny that it is an issue
germane to this mailing list is not wholly accurate.
